Pavalon, Gifford & Laatsch has been one of the leading firms in Illinois and nationally in representing Plaintiffs in product liability cases.

During the past 40 years, members of the firm have successfully tried and settled numerous product liability cases, many of which set legal precedents. Whether it involves an automobile failure to warn case or cases concerning the negligent design of industrial equipment, the firm has long been a leader in the field. Partners in the firm have tried product liability cases in states throughout the country, including Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, Michigan and Texas. Of the firm's many verdicts and settlements in product liability cases, several have been record highs for the type of case involved.

Partners in the firm began representing clients in cutting edge product liability cases in the early 1960's when one of the partners successfully represented a seriously injured occupant of a Corvair automobile against General Motors for its defective design of the rear suspension system of the vehicle. This case was described in the first chapter of Ralph Nader's famous book "Unsafe at Any Speed."

In the mid 1970's, a firm partner was the first to successfully try a case against Ford Motor Company for damages suffered by the client arising out of bums suffered because of the defective fuel system design of the Ford Mustang. The case resulted in the first settlement of a case regarding this dangerous design defect.

Members of the firm have successfully represented clients in product cases involving, among other products, various motor vehicles, aircraft, consumer products, farm equipment and toxic chemicals.

Pavalon, Gifford & Laatsch have the resources to retain the most qualified experts and the skill to move these cases forward to a successful conclusion while always maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.

In addition to their successful representation of clients in product liability cases, members of the firm provide instruction to other lawyers throughout the country by lecturing, writing articles and through direct and informal assistance. Members of the firm are also frequently asked to speak at national meetings of professional organizations of engineers and scientists addressing the issues in product liability litigation.

By their participation in leadership roles in the organized trial bar, nationally and statewide, members of the firm are able to network with other prominent law firms handling product liability cases, so that the most current engineering and medical science information is made available to our clients. This assures maximizing results and contributes to the firm being highly sought after for pursuing complicated product liability cases.

By using modem technology and combining it with old fashioned grit and determination, the firm is truly a leader in this most demanding area of trial practice.
